The country’s vast elephant-filled national parks, such as Yala and Udawalawe, offer amazing natural sceneries such as mountains, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and safari experiences. The journey takes around three hours to complete, with break spots and food sellers along the way. Completing the climb, you’ll come to a rock with a footprint-shaped indentation, which some say is where Adam took his first step. Others believe it is the imprint of Buddha, while others say it was created by Shiva, the Hindu god.

How to go – you can get a train from Colombo to the peak’s base. From Colombo, Kandy, and other places, take a direct train to Hatton. Then take a bus or a taxi to Dalhousie, the nearest town to Adama’s Peak.

Because it overlooks the jungles below, this plateau is known as Lion’s Rock. The site is reached by a series of stairwells and rooms leading from the lion’s mouth. Ponds, gardens, and fountains are also available. It’s really cool! Aside from the palace, the site beneath the palace is a sophisticated city complex with gardens, residential and commercial zones. It’s a significant surviving example of early city planning from this time period.

Locals consider the place to be the world’s eighth wonder. This old rock castle was once a monastery going back to the third century BC. Later, it was converted into a royal castle.

Also, when traveling by train from Kandy to Nuwara eliya, you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding tea plantations, waterfalls, and scenic mountains.
